Kris-Tech Copper-Clad Tracer Wire
Kris-Tech Copper-Clad Tracer Wire Description
Copper-Clad Steel (CCS) Tracer Wire is a solid steel core conductor with a concentrically clad copper coating and insulated with a high molecular weight polyethylene (HMWPE). The copper cladding measures 3% of the conductor diameter and has a total conductivity of IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard). This product is manufactured according to Underwriters Laboratory (UL) constructions in both 30 V and 600 V, suitable for use at a maximum continuous operating temperature of 75°C in wet and dry conditions.
Kris-Tech Copper-Clad Tracer Wire Applications
Kris-Tech tracer/locator wire can be used for locating a buried cable or pipe.
Most typically, a frequency generator is connected directly to the cable you want to trace, and a high or low frequency signal is applied. In the passive method, power voltages are sometimes applied at a frequency of 50-60 Hz.
The higher tensile (breaking) strength provided by CCS makes it a viable alternative in directional boring applications.
Kris-Tech Copper-Clad Tracer Wire Features
Copper-Clad Steel combines the high strength of steel with the electrical or corrosion-resistant properties of copper. It's lower weight and higher strength than copper, but the steel core makes it much less ductile (user friendly) than copper. Steel has a tendancy to remain stiff and have a memory, which can make field installation more difficult. HMWPE is a rugged, durable material considered excellent for moisture and abrasion resistance.
